original logomark
About the Client
Nina Productions is a creative consulting firm and production company whose goal is to create engaging, original content, and provide artists with the tools needed to develop their talents into a well rounded business.
Nina is a double sided coin. On one side, the group generateS their own content, such as podcasts, albums and videos, while also functioning as a multifaceted brand. On the other, Nina leverages the art they create to work with individual artists, companies and organizations as creative consultants, helping to put on events and produce branded content.
“The new mark should be carefree, confident, and crisp”
OBJECtive
The primary objective for the project was to create a new logo for a young, flexible brand that signal trustworthiness and expertise while balancing a youthful identity that reflects the co-owners’ nerdy personalities through visual references to Japanese culture and anime style.

MOODBOARD
The first step I like to take after conferring with my clients is to create a moodboard. This provides a condensed collection of imagery, symbols, colors, etc that might help communicate the desired tone and look of the end product.
From our original moodboard, my clients were interested in taking on a more “corporate”style logomark, as in the top right example. However, Japanese anime elements like the shuriken and calligraphic lettering should also influence the mark, resulting in a “carefree”, “confident”, and “crisp” symbol.

SKETCHING
During the brainstorming phase of the project, I like to start by drawing out all my ideas on paper. This helps to visualize potential options and allows me to deconstruct and revise my ideas without losing track of my progress.
To get the most out of this stage, I personally like to challenge myself not to erase ANY of my ideas; you never which one just might stick!
